Summer Reading
Summer 2019 Activities
Program Ends August 31 |
Public libraries across the State are encouraging reading through the "Summer Reading at New York Libraries" program. Summer Reading at New York Libraries is an annual event that brings children and families into local public libraries for reading and fun summertime programs.
Summer Read programs are offered to all children from babies to teens. Parents are encouraged to participate as well. For more information, check out the New York State Summer Reading Website. Congratulations to Sabine Hirsch for winning
the Greenville Drive-In Movie Tickets Prize. Congratulations to Jacob Caprio for winning the FunPlex FunPark Prize. Thank you to everyone for participating in the summer reading program. |
Register to participate in this year's Summer Reading Program.
The program asks you to set a goal of a number of minutes you will read before the end of the program. The Library is ready to help with online registration and book selection. Prizes will be awarded along the way until August 31 at 2:00pm when the program comes to a close. Remember- reading doesn’t mean just books! Audiobooks, graphic novels, newspapers, magazines, maps, and the cereal box count too! June 15th – During the Ramble meet Bruce the Bear. Bruce the Bear is a children’s book character from the bestselling Mother Bruce series by Ryan T. Higgins. Bruce will be available for photos as well as encourage kids to read his stories. Bruce will start the kids 600 meter "Wood Duck Dash".
June 15th is the kick-off for the Summer Reading Program. Go online register for the summer. |
As part of Summer Reading at New York Libraries, the State Education Department and myON®, by Renaissance®, are partnering to bring thousands of authentic, enhanced digital books to children from birth through 12th grade and their families all around the state. Unlimited, 24/7 access to the myON digital library will be available through a single shared account login from May 1 through September 30. Children and families can read online using any web-enabled device and offline using free mobile apps.
