Fine Amnesty Week

Do you have over due Rensselaerville Library books, movies, magazines?

August 31 through September 7 is Fine Amnesty* Week.

In order to qualify, you must bring in a bottle of shampoo**, canned soup or other nonperishable item for the Hilltown Resource Center. So dig through the closets, drawers, bookcases, and tree forts for those library items and bring them back to the Library.

*Cannot be applied to missing or damaged items.
**Item in high demand.

Art Auction

The Friends of Rensselaerville Library are excited to present a Live Auction featuring artwork from local artists and beyond at Conkling Hall on September 4, 2010, from 2-4pm.

Preview of items will be at the Way Out Gallery September 1-3, 2010 from 11-3pm.

Volunteers are needed to help with the event on Saturday, September 4th from 2-4pm. If interested please contact Lisa Jemison at 944-8697 or lmjemison@gmail.com The jobs needed include: greeters, food and beverage managers, record keepers, monitors and more.

Description: Galway Kinnell is “one of the most influential American poets of the latter half of the 20th century.” (Wikipedia) Galway is the author of ten books of poetry, including The Book of Nightmares, When One Has Lived a Long Time Alone, Imperfect Thirst, and most recently A New Selected Poems and Strong is Your Hold. He also published a novel, Black Light; a selection of interviews, Walking Down the Stairs; and a book for children, as well as translations of works by Bonnefoy, Goll, Villon and Rilke. A former MacArthur Fellow and State Poet of Vermont, he has been a Chancellor of The Academy of American Poets. In 1982, his Selected Poems won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, and in 2002, he was awarded the Frost Medal by the Poetry Society of America.
